Fully agree with Hitch, but it's sad that the comment section here is purely an echo chamber for people like me. Just like the comment sections on Mohammed Hijab's videos are, on the other end. This issue is only getting worse, and I suspect it has to do with both sides isolating themselves and putting an end to talking to the other side. The late, great Christopher Hitchens would be appalled by today's social and religious nonsense happening in the world. I completely agree with @darkoz1692, "A man like Christopher Hitchens is needed more today than ever." Humanity is bringing itself to the brink of annihilation because we cannot simply speak to one another, compromise, and move forward as human beings. No one can take a joke or satire anymore. Everyone gets so butt-hurt so quickly and it is sad and I don't know if there is a way back.

The fact is, the Muslim world is not READY for modernity. They are too immature. They are weak, and cannot handle string critique. NO ONE who is outside of the Muslim religion (or anyone who seeks to wise up and leave it as an apostate), is obliged to believe A SINGLE WORD of it, or to adhere to ANY of its tenets. PERIOD.

Comity between different groups is not a principle of free speech. The right to speak explicitly includes the right to offend. Western Democracy is not the province of fragile children. This is adult citizenship, where you’re going to hear ideas you consider abhorrent, and your ONLY defense is the capacity of rational, peaceful argumentation, like a grown up. If you can’t engage in the battle of ideas peacefully, like an adult, much less CHANGE when your antiquated Iron Age religions are proven scientifically false and incredulous, then please LEAVE.
